Prior choral or instrumental experience is helpful; you must be able to sing on pitch and follow directions. Singers in the 9th grade and older are eligible. We work hard, but have fun too! Katherine Evans is the Director of Music and the contact person for the Adult Choir. To express your interest in joining the Adult Choir, you can contact Katherine by calling the parish office. Just leave a number where you can be reached, along with a good time to call.
The Adult Choir sings at the Sunday 10:00 AM Mass each week and also at special liturgies, such as Christmas Midnight Mass and the Easter Vigil, as well as performing two concerts each year. Most of what the choir sings would be considered traditional music: hymns, carols, and other classical pieces.
Special talents or gifts needed for this ministry
Members need to be able to sing on pitch, and blend with a section. Prior choral or instrumental experience is very helpful, as is the ability to read music. Members need to be in the ninth grade or older.
Duration of ministry
There is no formal period of commitment. Some people sing for a season, a year, or are ongoing members.
Rehearsal times or training sessions
Rehearsal is on Wednesday evenings in Church from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Learning the music well requires a commitment to the Wednesday rehearsals and Sunday Masses. The Choir sings from September through June.
Expected dress requirements
We have concert dress for special occasions. We almost always sing in the choir loft so there is no special dress for most occasions.
